The guiding philosophy of the program is to fully immerse participants in meaningful experiences that will prepare them for and propel them into adulthood ready to: remember, educate and act. The two-week experience is built around the group commemorating Yom Hashoah usually in Poland (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and celebrating Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) in Israel. Due to the crisis in Ukraine, the trip pivoted to Israel only. The Los Angeles delegation is extremely fortunate to be joined each by Holocaust Survivors via Zoom who share personal experiences about their lives and create lasting relationships with the teens throughout their journey. We at BJE March of the Living shape program goals and objectives around the following mantra: "Remember. Educate. Act." We look forward to having a meaningful trip! In this series of workshops, teens will learn basic life skills to help them feel empowered to navigate the world as they emerge into adulthood. HOW TO SAVE A LIFE, APRIL 23RD 3:00 PM Join us for a CPR training and certification program for teens. Teens will learn infant, child, and adult CPR, as well as injury and allergy intervention skills. All participants in this workshop will leave with a CPR certification that's good for two years. HOW TO SAVE FOR THINGS, MAY 13TH 4:30 PM What goes into a budget? How much should I put into my 401K and what is a 401K anyways? What is the difference between a credit card and a debit card? In this workshop, teens will learn the basics of budgeting and financing so that they can feel empowered to make smart financial choices as they go out into the world. HOW TO FEEL BETTER, SUNDAY JUNE 11TH 4:30 PM How do I make a doctor's appointment? How do I advocate for myself with health care professionals? What should I look for in a dentist? How do I navigate health care in an emergency? In this workshop, teens will learn how to be their own advocates when navigating our healthcare system. HOW TO BOIL WATER, TBD Everyone should have a few recipes and know how to cook some basic dishes. In this workshop, teens will learn basic cooking skills and how to navigate a kitchen.
